I don't know whether we will be having biology or chemistry because ms lai said there will be bio mass lecture tmr while mr lee said there will be chemistry remedial for us tmr. The timings crash. Study Tips

Hey people, the mugging period starts already!!!! Arghhhh!!! Ok nvm. I am here to post some tips on studying for the EOYs( or should I say mugging tips).

1. Determine your optimum study time.
We have learnt that enzymes have optimum temperature and pH to react. We have optimum times to study too. Determine whether you study best at the mornings, afternoons, evening or night( do not say midnight hor, no good for everyone.) Study most at the optimum timings.

2. Have a detailed schedule.
List out what you want to study on the next day. The timings, topics and etc need to be included too. And of course, adhere to it. You may of course take drinks or some snacks during the periods, but try not to turn on your com because you will easily get distracted by games or msn. If the com is really needed, just search for the info you want and ask ur questions fast, and turn the computer off.

How to study

1. Put your notes and worksheets etc at the study table neatly.
2. Start with SUBJECTS you are most confident with first, then the TOPICS, then slowly advance to the more difficult topics, then to other SUBJECTS. It helps to build up your confidence first.
3. Make mindmaps if you want, but be sure the mindmaps are clear so you can understand. And also, don't bother photocopying mindmaps from others, as you yourself do not know the process of thinking. Make them yourself. The mindmaps should be colourful but not messy so you can remember well.
4. Be sure where you are studying is in a quiet place with enough light for you to see. You can listen to some soothing music such as classical ones, but try not to listen to pop because your brain will be focusing subconciously more on the lyrics of the music rather than your notes and worksheets. Trust me, it is proven. I recommend 92.4 fm for music.
5. Of course, take breaks in between.
6. Revise same topics in a few days, but take a shorter time. For example, I am revising Bio on Sunday, It will take me 4 hours. Revise Bio again on tuesday. It will take me about 1.5-2hrs.On thursday or friday I will revise again.It will take me about 1.5-2hrs or so too.. Your brain will remember things better if you revise constantly.
7. Be on task. Don't sms once every minutes, you will get distracted.
8. Try testing your memory once in a while to gauge how much you have studied by giving yourself some little tests from assessment books or from old worksheets.
9. Don't confine yourself to just reading your own notes, worksheets and textbooks. You can read your older sibling's texts(provided you have and the notes in them are up to date. Some subjects like History will never change or will change very little because they are.....History. You can't change History.) You can borrow notes from other classes, seniors or even neighbours. Be daring, but do not spend too much time borrowing and returning the books. The time can be well spent on revising. I personally do not really encourage too much of borrowing form other people other than those very close ones,like siblings.

The day before the exam

1. Do not cram too much information into your brains for the next day topic. Instead, flip through your notes and be confident about yourself.
2. Do not study till very late because you most likely cannot remember the new information if you do not sleep well. I suggest to sleep at 11.30 pm or 12 at the latest.

Ok that's what I can think of for now. Anyone can make some additional tips by posting too.

Heyys.

Never post for damn long time liao. Anyway, this about the class gathering.

20th Oct, Monday
10am - 11pm
Meet at Lakeside MRT

K, so there's a main stuff.
I don't think all of you will come at 10am but you guys should be coming in your cliques, so when one clique all present, then we send someone to fetch. And coz we're bao-ing lunch AND dinner, we need alot alot of food. And not just the junk food crap. (Although I quite like it.) Also need someone bring about 50kg of bee hoon, and 100 fishballs. You get my drift. We need DVDs to watch, and I think last time's horror movies were quite successful/scary so try to find more of those type. Or if wanna try comedy or something also fine. Then must think of what to do for the second half of the day. (Coz morning is theatre then afternoon is this big hall, about two/three classrooms' size.) Maybe someone can bring board games or a really looooong skipping rope or we can juz play Truth-Or-Dare for 6 hours until we all know each other's darkest secrets. Point is, think of something to play/do.

Got pool, so can swim. Got playground, so can run around. Got girls, so will cry. (Joking. Pleasepleaseplease don't. Kills the whole thing.)
